A/T fluid
I've not read any comments about synthetic automatic transmission fluid. I've heard and read so many articles lauding the benefits of synthetic and its ability to deal with heat, I just wonder why some of the hard-core owners haven't discussed it.
My car has 161K on the clock, and I have books and records up thru 126K. However, just because the book is there and signed does not mean everything was done. I have synthetic ATF, and I think I would like to change the fluid as insurance against a rebuild. |

I got BG Synthetic auto trans fluid at Advance Auto a couple years ago when it was being closed out. It's been in my 560SL for a year and a half with no issues, Transmission operates very smooth and without issues. The rear label stated it was a replacement for Dextron III, and mentioned other replacements including Mercedes ATF.

There are a lot of threads on the subject. I have used M1 trans fluid before. However, I do not know if it is still compatible with older transmissions.
I have some M1 which I will be using next week in the SDL. The trick is to drain the torque converter as well as the transmission.
