What are these wires?

Removed the rear interior side panels of my 560SL today in order to change the rear shocks. On the passenger side I found two wires neatly snipped off with one of them capped with a wire nut. Can anyone tell me what they are for? It seems as though all systems are functioning, so I don't know if they are there for some option that I don't have or what.

Thanks.

The black wire is a ground. The red is probably a hot lead, so that's why it's capped. Definitely not original, look at the crimp connector on the ground. Looks like the remains of an old-style car phone or maybe a stereo.

Thanks Chuck, but what took you so long to answer? I posted over five minutes ago.

Okay, I knew the black one was a ground and certainly not original since Mercedes grounds are always brown. I'll remove it while I've got everything apart. I just went out and followed the red wire. It goes back to the battery and is connected to the positive terminal with an in-line fuse. Definitely done by the previous owner. I'll yank it out too.
