subframe mounts
Had new subframe mounts, engine mounts, and transmission mounts installed last week. The mechanic, experienced with MB and former lead mechanic at the local MB store, said he had never heard of changing subframe mounts in a 560SL. Anyway, the difference in ride and road shock transferral was amazing. I wonder what changing the control arm bushings would do! I am pleased, albeit much broke-r than before the exercise.
I knew that the 560 didn't ride anywhere near as silky as my 250SL when I bought it new. But if I hadn't been reading this thread, I never would have known the solution. |

That doesn't sound right. All 107's eventually needs new subframe mounts. If he's never heard of that before, I gotta wonder about his MB experience.

Other than being a few years newer, they are the same, and virtually all of them, even on garage queens, are 20 years old now.

Lots of people make lots of stupid remarks. He also claimed to have 'fattened' up the fuel mixture at cold idle??? Is that possible on a Benz? I thought the ECM handled all that??? I EFI systems I am familiar with, that data is hard coded/programmed into the chip and is not alterable. The only adjustable system I know of is an aftermarkes system called "Megasquirt".
