SL500 soft top window replacement

Hello, I just purchased a 1993 SL500.....now can't wait till spring to drive ! When I put soft top up for storage (as was suggested) the plastic windows basically popped. So they are toast. Can just the windows be placed without the whole top ? The top seems in reasonable shape and hate to replace just because of the windows. I have tried researching on this site...but no clear answer. Many thanks in advance.

hood windows and hoods

Hi

Pity you don't live in London UK! there's a guy near Manchester who replaces all the windows in a 107 hood for £270 - fitted - propbably not mmuch more fopr a 129! But you might find it cheaper to replace the whole hood - there must be places in North America who do them - in the UK we've people like the following:

I suppose shipping isn't too much.

Cheers

Jim

thank you very much, and thanks for the link. Prices may not be bad, it's the labor that needs to be added also. I can have installed, with part for about $1600/cdn $, and the part is about $1000, but your supplier is still a little cheaper at about $700/cdn. I will still look and see about just doing windows.

I hope you didn't "pop" your windows by trying to raise the top in cold weather. I live in Wisconsin and I usually put the soft top down on a warm day sometime in September, then install the hardtop for the cooler months before totally storeing the car for winter. In the spring, just the reverse. Use the hardtop until May.
