At the price it costs to get that far. I would replace the cam gears if they show the slightest wear. You don't want to open the front of that engine again anytime soon. I recently replaced timing chain etc. on a 380. The price was $1700.00 and I thought it was a deal. Tiehacker

Mine is a '74 and tonight took the valve covers off and the gears look good but i could pull the chain up about 1.5 to 2mm and can see it move back on the gear ..i didnt get to rotate and check the timing marks as the battery is out ..I am going to take the radiator{seems real easy} out and drain the coolent as its green then i can get engine to turn over easy and clean up..My guides are RED Plastic, is this normal color for the year? one has metal back on pass side.i hear these dont have to be changed?? nor the plastic ones?? the cam gears are only $19 so maybe i will do them..dunno..issy chain is $94 ///Jeff
