Anyone fancy a 450SEL 6.9 for a 560SL?

I fancy mixing it up a little but I cannot get a 560SL until I sell my 6.9 so a trade would be best. I would also consider a nice 560SEC.

Sorry, I thought everyone knows my 6.9.

I purchased it in Jan 2005. It needed some rust repair which it got. This included new front fenders, rocker panels, floor repair and an inside out paint job in Astral Silver (123000).

The olive green leather interior is in good shape.

When I bought the car, I rebuilt the steering box, replaced the engine mounts, the brake disks and pads and and hoses. Flushed the cooling system, replaced the thermostat and the auxiliary fan switch and put a set of continental tires on it.

Recent work (in the last 12 months or 5000 miles etc) includes.

  1. Timing Chain, tensioner guides etc replaced.
  2. Transmission mount
  3. flex disk and drive shaft bearing
  4. A/C condenser
  5. Refilled with fresh R12 (blows ice cold).
  6. Automatic Antenna

In the last 2 months.
  1. Self leveling spheres in the rear.
  2. Tie Rods
  3. Windshield washer hoses and pump
The bad stuff
  1. Tire is worn unevenly on one side and I had a blow out on the other which means that I have three continentals and one douglas.
  2. ACC Servo is failing. No leaks, just blows hot all of the time, so I block off the hose to the cabin 6 months of the year so that I can have A/C.
  3. Brakes squeal like a London taxi (new pads and rotors, i put anti squeal in the front and will put some in the back soon).
  4. Someone hit me in the right rear door. His insurance paid and I had the work done, but the paint used has slightly more metalic flake then in the original which shows up in the sunlight.
  5. Original Becker Mexico tape deck works, radio also does but only when it feels like it (a fonzy thump on the side of the console sometimes gets the radio working). I normally use a tape deck adaptor to run my ipod or sirius.
This car is very reliable, and I have put a lot of money into it in order to make it so. I am quite happy to get in it and do a 2000 mile drive if I needed it. I drive it as closely as you can get to a daily driver as one can when one has 6 tagged and running cars. It gets as much use as my 1997 E420.

I write a lot about my activities on the weekend which is when I normally tinker with this car. Look for the 'weekend wrenching' threads on the vintage forum and i'm sure you'll find all things good and bad about this car.

Reason for selling is to downsize. I want a 560SL because it will make a good daily and allow me to sell this, my daily E420 and my 72 350SL in order to get down to a more manageable number of cars (under 10).

Here are some pictures
