I need a trunk lock - '86 560SL

Anyone know where I can find a replacement trunk lock? I know I will have to have a locksmith re-key it...

Thanks. Ryan

I second the dealer - even if you get a pull n part after you pay to have re-keyed probably the same $$

I called my dealer in OKC this afternoon - $108. I give them my VIN and it comes keyed and ready to go. Not too bad, I guess...

Trunk Lock See post #19. Rockyraccoon has one he might part with, but I'm not sure it will fit.

trunk lock

Yes I have one I am willing to let go. I repaired my existing lock after buying this one on ebay. I am on vacation in St, Croix right now and will communicate further when I get home next week.

Check my recent trunk lock thread for repair suggestins from others and my repair report. Maybe you can still fix yours. Later.

Okay you put the knife in. Are you going to twist it now or wait till you get home?

for rgnprof

I'm back now rested, tanned and ready. Do you still need a trunk lock? If so, my thoughts on it are as follows.

I bought this lock with latches, plates and pushbutton assembly (but no key) on ebay for $127.00. It appears to be complete and in good used condition. I will attach pix if you are interested. I don't want to be hardnosed but I am ambivalent about selling it. If I can get what I paid I will sell otherwise I will simply add it to my growing inventory of spare parts.

Frankly, I think you should not give up on fixing your existing lock unless it is physically destroyed. I had given up and bought this assembly then tried one more time and a miracle cure happened.

I ordered a new one from a dealer - comes keyed to my VIN with another key.

Thanks, ryan
