diagnostic socket and low brake level indicator?
 

OK, folks, I have been scouring this forum for the last few days. I have several issues I plan to tackle but there are two most pressing to me at the moment.

I have an indicator on that I now find out isn't a "check engine" light but is actually a low brake fluid level indicator. It looks similar to the "check pads" indicator but differs with solid parenthesis and an exclamation point in the center. I happened to note in the manual I purchased that this is for Canadian models, which must be Euro imports with minor changes. This indicator seems to replace the "Break" indicator on normal American models.

Anyway, this indicator is on even though I have sufficient fluid in the reservoir. Not totally full, but well above the min mark. I do plan to purchase some fresh fluid today and top it off. My question is, is it normal for the indicator to come on that soon or is there a way to adjust/diagnose the switch?

Next, as I have been thinking this was this car's version of check engine, I could not locate the engine fault codes or the diagnostic socket location in the CD manual I purchased, which has the 107 Owners, Maintenance, Engine, Electrical and body manuals. I still wish to check for faults as I read yesterday that not all of them will trigger the "check engine". Can someone tell me where it is located in these manuals? The electrical manual has schematics that reference pages I can not find.

There are 2 compartments in the brake fluid reservoir. Make sure both are full.

I've seen the floats being sticky from old fluid which wont allow them to float up smoothly within the master cylinder. Might try cleaning them with new brake fluid.

Adding new fluid did take care of it. Both reserviors were at the mid points so one or both of the indicators tripped early, but that isn't really that bad of a deal once I thought about it. The kicker would be if they didn't trip at all, but I have the hood up on her before each drive and can keep a keen eye out.

I have since figured out that the diagnostic socket on an 84 doesn't throw codes unless it was a Cal model.

Next will be to tackle the high idle and a semi hard start after warm. It isn't too bad on either one. Idle comes down to normal which I usually just start her early and wait a few minutes, and the hard start an hour after warm takes a couple of pedel pumps that it shouldn't.

I'll start by replacing the oxygen sensor and testing the fuel reservior, which is probably leaky...
