m110 engine swap into 380sl questions

Any one know what I might run into after putting a 1979 280slc m110 engine and tranny into my 1981 380sl?...so far everything has went well except the engine cranks only by jumping the starter (no start) there is fire at the coil and plugs...the white ceramic things on the inner fender well get very hot....engine will not hit even with fuel sprayed in throttle opening....Thanks for any Help.
