Injector hoses '72 350SL - D-Jet

I am in process of replacing my injectors. Many years ago, I had shop convert injector hoses from original swaged type to clamp on hoses. The shop put proper MB clamps on top and bottom of connector hoses.

Just reading the shop manual. It says to NOT put a clamp at the bottom if you have the type of injector that has a double hose barb, which the Bosch 036 injectors have.

I am not keen on having those hoses just pushed on, particularly seeing I am using standard SAE J30R9 (100psig) injector hose.

My previous hoses didn't leak, so maybe MB are being too cautious?

ADDED: Found these on the NET - NO hoses! Looks like he is giving them away free??

If your question is two clamp or not two clamp...kits Phil sells have two clamps...top and bottom. Replaced hoses on mine and used two clamps...belt and suspenders is my motto. Only hard part is getting a screw driver or small wrench on the bottom clamp to re-tighten every so often, a bit tight, space-wise.

That's how mine have been for the past 8 or 9 years. But the MB manual says:

Quote:
Attention!
On injection valves with double sealing edge connection, no hose clip should be mounted at injection valve. Mount hose clip at ring line end of fuel hose only. Use hose clips from repair kit only. Page 07.4.1 11-220/6
It seems they are concerned about having a hose clip in same place as the barbs on the connection - Possible cutting of the rubber. I can see their point.

But I also can't see having no clamp and 35psig pressure. I think I will put the clamp as low as possible so it only compresses rubber over one barb. And then not tighten it too much. Narrower clamps might be better.

I checked the inside of the old connectors that had been clamped. There were indentations and the rubber had formed to the shape of the barbs. The new hose has the blue liner - the old ones were MB hoses and did not have the liner. Hope the liner does not cut easily!

Yes - I found some slightly narrower ones among my old parts. They at least sit below the outer barb, but still clamp down on the inner one. Just didn't overtighten.

Just got injectors and rails installed and have not pressure tested yet.
