Should there be a second rubber hanger on this muffler? My final count as of now is five rubber hangers needed. How close am I?
After getting this answered all I will need is someone to come south and show me how to get these things on properly.

There is just 1 hanger for the center muffler. There may be a support connected to the transmission lower housing that holds the exhaust pipes. If so, it's so close to the center hanger that the hanger is not really necessary.

donut installation tips
I just changed out 6 on my SL and found that jacking up the hanger you are working on as much as possible with a small hydraulic jack to get each hanger as close to each other as possible, then coating the rubber donut with a silicone such as a "tire wet" to make it slippery, then using a small - about 12 inches long - crowbar to stretch it over the body side hook works very well. The small crowbar has just the right angle and a big enough tip to hold onto the body hanger and the silicone allows it to easily slide right off the crowbar and onto the hanger.
Adding a few slightly loose loops of wire to prevent overextending the rubber donuts and for safety in case they fail is cheap insurance.
