Yes tried that, wasn't working out very well.

What did work was manipulating the tensioner rail by the arm sticking out the side of the head where the tensioner bolts on. That way, I was able to lever the tensioner hole at the far end up at the proper angle and slide the pin in. Trying to position the rail hole from the top of the head just wouldn't line up properly.

I got mine out with a very thin, strong hook. It's critical to be able to "wiggle" the arm to center the bearing and not put pressure on it during removal.

I got them in with using a "letter" drill bit (sorry, don't know which letter) which was very slightly less than the ID of the bearing, and using that to guide it in. Again, you have to wiggle the arm so as to avoid pressure and to center the bearing in the hole.

Cleanliness and oil help.
