Side Saddled in Pearl - Gotta Fix it -72 450SL

SO its been nice and been driving around in Pearl, top up since it is in the 40 degree range , but I have been feeling a bit side goggled in the seat. After investigation I noticed that at some time in her past someone welded the upper frame for the drivers seat and this has since broken loose, repairs are not possible.
Also while I had the rear of the seat removed I noticed the adjusting levers were just about toast
SOOOOOOOO I am now in quest of a good back part of a drivers seat for my poor Pearl. I really dont need anything in regards to leather or stuffing,,. not even the headrest , I will reuse mine, I just need the frame , and all the do dads, preferably a back that is true and not been bent or welded.Thought I'd start my quest here since you all know what I am talking about... and then onto the parts wanted
I have shipped whole seats before, its not too bad. I will glady pay , OK not gladly, but will pay ...lol

The SLC won't have the release cables but you can hopefully adapt yours. Compare to the pics I sent you.

so the latest , pulled the seat, back frame has some sort of issue , not sure but there is an issue, now the bottom, well I sent it off months ago, to be padded with "special foam" so I was told, pulled off the leather and low and behold some sort of foam, certainly not special and flat as a pancake, worthless, and to think I paid to have it done, have half a mind to return to the guy and give him my 2cents worth, but he probably would not understand. Will do it myself now, probably even invest in new horse hair pads. The springs are not broken but feel weak, not sure if that is normal or not.

fabricated a nice seat pad from some dense foam that I use for balance testing, firm , yet gives, had to use the bandsaw to get it to thickness and size, but worked well. Should have done it myself in the first place. I am going to order some of the zigzag springs as well

You know, there is something in the Mitchell manual I have on 1972 seats, a technical bulletin, involving safety - there must be some difference between 72 seats and later seats.

Fantastic. Glad it worked out. Did you have to do much re-enforcement to the lower corner?
