W129 drivers door dropped!

Hi Guys
I have laid up my 92 500SL for the winter and decided I will sort all the niggling little things that irritate me when I drive her. the main thing is the Drivers door (right Hand drive) has dropped and now won't open first time on the catch unless you put an elbow into it! This naturally doesn't look good on a date! I cant see any obvious way to adjust. I have tried moving the catch but that didn't work. Does anyone have any advice or similar experience with this?

Have you tried slightly loosening the hinges and adjusting them? You will likely need someone to help. Take you time and go slow.

SL 500 door repair

In response to your sagging door, depending on the mileage of your vehicle its possible that the door hinges have worn out and will need replacement. If adjustment of the latching mechanism doesnt work, its the hinges that might need to be changed. Check for "slop" in the pin at the hinge to determine. Good Luck, Steve

when I worked part time at a body shop, in my younger days, they replaced the pins. If you have to take the hinges off, I think you'd be better off with a new set. Its a lot of work for two three guys to take the door off and line it up again. Steve Hunt the Ebay or peachparts, or RM European for them
