OVP relay compatability
I have an OVP relay from a 1982 380 sec, would this work for a 1987 560sl? the sec relay has 1 extra "87" pin. The ovp in my '87 560sl had a bad coil, and I have it "bypassed" as a temp fix. Anybody know? the rest of the pins coincide with mine, just an extra #87 pin.
Thanks, DDaymen |

The 560 would have an extra pin for the ABS and airbag controller, but if the socket for the corresponding pin in the older car is empty, it might work. I'd look at the CD-ROM manual to be sure.

Unfortunately I don't have any kind of manual. I think pin 87 is a ground, I don't really remember. If it is, and there is a place for this extra pin that has no juice, I think it might work. I'll have to check on mine to see just what pin 87 does.
$$$$ is really tight right now, so that's why I don't just buy a new one. also the 1982 380 sec this came off of might be my son's next car, as his got totaled. the only thing is that it sat for a year, has half a tank of bad gas, but it will run if you keep spraying carb cleaner into it. Probably needs to have the fuel tank cleaned, possibly a new fuel pump, but that is another story/project!! |

If anybody can tell me which pi does what, that would be helpful! I had that info saved on my computer, but I guess it got "lost" or possibly deleted.
Thanks. |
