380SL injector replacement schedule?
Guys
What is the prevailing wisdom on when and if the injectors on a 380Sl should be changed? In the diesel world a re-build or spray test is recommended every 100K miles or so and re-built injectors are quite reasonable. One parts retailer - who likes to market by "scaring" people into replacing perfectly fine parts - is recommending routine replacement of 380SL injectors every 100K miles as well. What do you think? Is it worth it or a waste of time and money? With 8 of the little blighters to replace it is not a trivial cost to do! Thanks! |

They should only be replaced if clogged, rusted, or spray is un-even!

The injectors do wear out, but I don't know that there's a recommended replacement schedule.
I've purchased new injectors, holders and seals for mine for less that $250 US and will be replacing shortly. In my case I suspect one or more leaking injectors and felt it easier to just replace them all. |

did mine at 140 and made a huge improvement .
They give you warning signs. Hard hot start , poor pick up /fuel mileage ect.
