That is crazy, that car has traveled hardly 250 miles a year! I cover more miles in my SD in 2 months than that car has on it......

I could never own a car like that one, I'd feel bad driving it... and I like to drive my cars

I'm 50/50 on that subject. On the one hand it would be a shame not to drive it....on the other it would be a shame to drive it

Although the miles and color are rare - it's still not a collector's item to the extent that they're all collectible. The market was so flooded for so many years on that SL107 body - that alone penalizes it. If miles and condition are driving up the price - those are the only redeeming qualities doing so. And yes, to keep it's value up in the heavens, it cannot be driven.

It's interesting that the coolant expansion tank got yellowed with time, despite very few heat cycles.

Let's take them both down to the drag strip and see which one blows it's gaskets first.

Now that's just odd to have two SLs in almost the same color - both with super low miles on them. But, as I wrote, there's so many model years and so many thousands of that SL that were imported into the country - a few are bound to have low miles on them. My guess is that the owners of these SLs are crying 'uncle' because of the recession - and just can't hold on to them any longer. Cute car, nonetheless!

Couple weeks ago, a member here posted pics. of his Silver on Grey 560SL - that he gave $2K for - it was over 100K, and in pretty darn good condition, needing little as I recall - now to me, that was a bargain, a bargain you can actually drive - all things considered. They are very nice looking cars, I must admit!

Its a shame the '89 has those chrome over fenders.

I have a 10,210 mile Fiero, I cannot drive it. Unless R107 cars were my life and blood I wouldn't buy either car. I'd rather have a 50,000 mile unit I wouldn't mind taking out for sunday coffee and cruising.

The chrome rings are removable - so that's not an issue.

You mean a Pontiac Fiero, with over 10K miles on it, is a collectors item? What is the going market price for one - with those miles?

Yeah they come off easy but what if the paint faded?

The fiero? Its probably worth 6-8k, hard to put a price on a car that rarely comes up for sale. A lot of people held onto 88GTs but the first year cars, while the most common, are impossible to find with no miles. It doesn't matter it's value, it is the fact that it has very low miles on it, every mile you put on the car you can't take off. R107s aren't hard to find, nor are Fieros, so what makes both cars special is the lack of miles. As soon as you mile it up, it is just another fiero or R107. I don't care about the value.

Depends on where the car was parked - sun or garaged, and also the amount of exposure to salt and road chemicals, as well as airborne pollutants. In that condition and those miles, it's non-issue.

I would not have thought that a car with their reputation of engine-fires as being a collectable? The interest would have to be small, I would think. I care about my car's value, and I drive it enough for it's value to not be effected by it's miles. That way, I can enjoy driving it - as well as owning it.
