Flex Disc Install, Driveshaft Removal Help Needed 380sl

I'm replacing the flex discs, center bearing and holder; and the rear section of the driveshaft is stuck. The discs came out fine, and the front driveshaft slid out the front, but the rear section won't come out front or rear.

The manual says it's supposed to come out the rear but it just wont clear. I took the exhaust and park brake spring and holder off. Do I need to remove the brake lever and cables? If so, how to go about it? Thanks

Anyone know the easiest way to get the parking brake lever removed? It's completely hidden inside the frame and the CD manual doesn't show the process of removing it; doesn't even show the model I have.

Did you by any chance loosen or remove the center bearing carrier? I had to do that on mune to get everything loose. I didn't have to touch the parking brake hardware. I was doing transmission mounts at the time, so I had the mount and crossmember plates out also.

Yes I took the center bearing carrier off, and removed the front section of the drive shaft. I can't get the rear section to clear; it won't even come close to clearing out the front by the transmission, but it's close to coming out the back. It just wont clear and I can't get the parking brake lever off to add some clearance.

There is a large nut around the shaft in front of the carrier bearing. You have to immobilize the shaft with a chain wrench to loosen it. This allows the shaft to collapse some. That might give enough to clear, but I may be leading you astray, there's been a lot of stuff since I did mine.

I separated the driveshaft halves first and that's how I got the front one out. The rear would not clear the rear axle. I did manage to remove the parking brake lever and that gave the extra few mm needed for clearance. It was that close.

I pressed a new center bearing on and installed the carrier. Now to install the flex discs.

Those nuts are one time use only.
I changed nuts and bolts on principle.
