88 560SL
Don't mean to pin anybody down on a price, but for a 1988 560SL with around 85k miles in really good shape, is a ballpark in the $15-20k range a good guess, or am I running a bit too high?
thanks Fred

IMHO 15K tops. With full maintenance records and after complete MB or certified mechanic inspection.

88 560SL
Paid $10k for mine 2 1/2 years ago with 86k miles. Body not perfect but good and had some driveability issues since fixed. Daily driver for sure. Now has 112k miles.

Paid $16,500 for my '88 two years ago, 37,000 miles and a gorgeous car. Prices have come down since. If you're selling and not in a hurry, you can start out in that range. If you're buying I'd tend to lean toward Rocky's number.

There's a black '88 560SL @ http://texascarsdirect.com on-line has one priced at $9,950.00 - 84K miles I saw a couple days ago. SEE NEXT POST BELOW! Texas Cars Direct is on Forest Lane, next door to the Ceramic Tile International, three blocks west of Webb Chapel. Last edited by Skid Row Joe; 07-09-2010 at 05:33 PM. |

Here's the SL at Texas Cars Direct in Dallas, Texas:
The wood grain of the console is badly worn and someone put a cheeezy aftermarket radio/stereo and a veeerrry cheeesy ambient temperature guage in a ventilation duct - but it looks good otherwise.
Not my cup-of-tea, but you might want to jump on it - if you want it. Texas Cars is very reputable, from friends I know that have bought several MBs and Jags, from them, STOCK #1686A MAKEMERCEDES BENZ MODEL560SL CONVERTIBLE YEAR1988COLORCLASSIC BLACK MILES84,789PRICE$9,950 84kmi Clean CARFAX history report Tan interior removable hard top and convertible soft top automatic transmission custom cd player power windows cruise contro l fog lamps Apply for Loan Email Us Directions |

I wonder if Emmerich knew about this SL before he posted - either that or someone is running A "QUASI-OWNER" ruse on CL?
Too coincidental that another '88 560SL shows up at the same exact time, with the same exact mileage @ 50% +/- DINERO - in the same city (Dallas, Texas) I don't believe in coincidences, BTW...... |

Did not see that ad. I have a friend with cancer who wants to sell her SL to me to pay for chemo. She has a VERY unrealistic idea of what it is worth and I was trying to get background, since I don't know much about SL's. She is not in Dallas.

Sorry to hear of your friend, Emmerich. I was way off there. My apologies are in order.
Do you have details or pictures/history on the SL? Last edited by Skid Row Joe; 07-12-2010 at 03:44 PM. |

No apologies necessary, what you said makes perfect sense. I have no pics, but i am familiar with the car. Its in really great shape, when I lived in Houston I used to try and talk her into selling it to me, since she never drove it. It was a dead ringer color match for my 6.9. It is blue/blue, which I never really dug on the 6.9, but looks good on the SL.

Check ebay. Also check completed listings to see what they sold for.

12,500 tops if it is at least a 8/10 w/ all records.
