1972 450sl VIN
A friend of mine was going to run a carfax on my 450 but he said I didn't have enough #'s. I gave him the 14 digit vin off the title but he said it had to be 17. Is the complete number on the ID tag in front of the radiator? If it is how do you de-code, thanks alot!

He can try adding WDB to the front of it but I think carfax only works on '81 and newer USA format VINs.

rowdie is correct , the old MB VINs are a few numbers short. Try MB classic center for details of the VIN

An sl? Something like 107.044-12-00xxxx
Carfax is probably useless for events older than the mid-90s, when that car was already 20 years old. Definitely contact the classic center and ask for your data card. Check other threads in the vintage section to figure out how to decode it. -CTH |
