Spring steel plate inside fuel distributor

Hey guys, I have a bit of a problem and hoped that someone could point me in the right direction. I have been helping a friend get his 1976 450sl running. It started with replacing the head gaskets (never ever again!) and now issues with the fuel system. I took the leaky fuel distributor apart, thoroughly cleaned it, and replaced the rotted orings. It immediately became obvious that someone had been "playing" inside of the fuel distributor before because of the gasket material slopped every where and the damaged spring steel plate that controls the fuel mixture. I have searched all over Google and am unable to find out anything about this plate other than it's function. Does anyone know what this is called and/or where to get one? I would just get one at the salvage yards but none have a V8 Mercedes right now. Any help is appreciated! I hope to get this resolved soon so we can get the fuel pressures set and finally get the old girl in running shape again. THANKS!

Reportedly, parts are not available and "no user servicable parts inside" is the usual admonishment for these animals. Might try Pelican Parts...

Good Luck.

Thanks for the reply. That site had a little more information than Some of the other pages I read on the rebuild and a lot of the same. I ended up going to a machine shop in town that did the cylinder liners and valve guides on my OM617. They said it was no problem and should have it by the end of this week or sometime next week. I'll keep you guys posted on the results!

you're best bet is spending about 100$ on ebay getting a used fuel distributor.
You might well need a used WUR too. The two work together, so most likely both have been jacked up by the PO.
