ID a part, please! 81 380slc

see pic. dealing with high idle and so far, everything is checking out engine wise, when removing the plug to this part idle does lower in order to replace/troubleshoot part need to know what it is, thankyou.
?????? can the car be run with it unplugged as the idle is 1700 at least its manageable with the part unplugged????

I think that's your cold start injector.

in the pic you can see just the tip of blue tops at the left the cold start valve is there.

this part when unplugged does have a yellow top, i would think fuel related as it does have high pressure lines to it. anybody, help?

That is a frequency valve. It's a lot like an electronic fuel injector with a hose inlet and outlet. Having your idle drop when it's lowered doesn't necessarily mean that it's bad. It is commanded by the computer to fine-tune the mixture. If it's working right AND the computer is controlling it properly, it should "buzz". The fact that you unplugged it and your idle lowered implies that its solenoid is working and that it probably doesn't leak.

This is a rather expensive part to "shotgun"!!
