Replacing the rear shocks on '95 SL500: Question???

I am going to be replacing my rear shocks soon. Here is the question: Do I have to remove the rear compartment interior panels and the Bose floor covering behind the drivers seat to gain access to the nuts and bolts/shock top that hold the upper portion of the shocks in place OR are the upper nuts and bolts/shock top accessed inside the trunk area somewhere? Steve
