gap between top and body

Bought a 97 SL 500, and when putting on the hard top there is a gap between the top and the body about 1 inch,The top is down in the back and tight at the windshield. Was wondering if it might not be the correct top. are there differant tops for the 129? The passenger side is not as much of a gap. Thanks for any help.

It should fit snug all around. Have you tried removing it and then re-install? I believe there are 3 different tops, but all are the same as far as mounting. I think after 95, the weather stripping around the door glass is different because the windows lower a tad when you open and close the doors. Early 129's didn't have that feature. The panoramic glass top is the 3rd option. Maybe someone else with better info can chime in here?

Does the soft top deploy and seat properly?
