First time under the car

So I got up early today and took my box of new parts out to the garage, transmission filter at the ready. It was my first time under a car in about 20 years and I'm a little sore.

So I dropped the pan, changed the filter and also changed my shifter bushings. Actually, change would imply that I removed the old ones but amazingly I found metal on metal on both sides of the linkage. All went pretty well and the car is still on the stands. I have the subframe bushings and sway bar bushings ready to go. I also want to see if I can get to the TC drain plug to drain that as well but I don't think I'll be pulling the exhaust cross pipe to get to it. The trans fluid actually looked good so I'm not too worried if I don't.

Oh, and I broke a lug net yesterday so I have drilling that out to look forward to.

This forum has definitely made the work easier. Many thanks to those who took the time to post.

Matt.

Don't forget to check the front subframe for cracks.

Drain the torque converter. Make yourself a little directional funnel out of aliminum foil or something to direct the flow where you want it. It would be a shame to do all that work and have half the ATF still be dirty.
