I'd love to hear about your idea. I'm also locked out. Different model - 2004 s500 4matic.

The fix is simple If the locking mechanism is the same as on the 560SL

When you push on the button you relaase the latch to the trunk lid. Drilling a hole behind the license plate alows a 1/8 piece of rod to press on the latch and moves it just as the piece of plastic on the end of the locking cylinder.

If you need the measurements for the hole location I will dig them out. Jack
