380sl replacement shocks?

Want to replace the shocks all round on my 83 380SL. What are the cost effective alternatives and brands.

Thanks.

SL shocks

Replace them with Bilstein's, you'll be happy that you did. You just have to decide on which model, comfort or heavy duty. Prices should be around $60.00 each if you shop around.

I replaced the shocks on my 73 450sl with Bilstein HD about 1 year ago. The original shocks were very badly worn out at 100,000 miles. The HDs are a little rough in town over bumpy roads, and otherwise fine. The HDs were recommended by the mechanic who put them in.

Does anyone know what the original shocks were: comfort or HD type?

SL shocks

I would have to guess that comfort came standard.
