Hirchman Antenna

I have an original Hirchman Antenna taken from my 560SL. I believe the
motor is shot, unwise seems to be OK, as I have replaced it. If anyone
wants it for parts it's free, just pay the shipping cost.

I have a question about the antenna. When not in use should it retract all the way down? mine only goes half way. Thanks

Yes it should retract all the way. The 560 has a switch on the dash that is used to adjust antenna position. With ignition or radio off it should fully retract. The shaft may just need cleaning and a little lube.

Thanks, i will check it out when i get back from Wisconsin in a couple of weeks. If its not as simple as some lube is there a repair/rebuild kit for them?

It cheap enough to try but you may have a slightly bent mast or the nylon cable attached to the mast may be broken. It does sound like the electronics are good.

The switch on the dash does work, also when i turn off the radio the antenna does go down mid way, so i will try your suggestion before i tear into the body of the unit.

Thanks again for the help.
