Tools

I recall a statement about a tool (pliers with a ring?).

Is it used on the main body bushings? What about the linkage bushings? Those look like they may be tough to seat.

What kind of grease is recommended for these bushings?

Thanks for any advice!

Bryan

Did it the hard way....

I tried a long bolt and washers to pull it thru but it just seemed to compress and not go thru. So I ended up stuffing the groove in and deforming it a bit, pressed / pulled thru with a channel locks....got it done in a minute or two.

Thanks anyway Guys!

I have those pliers, after struggling with two cars. It can be done by microwaving them and running under the car but you have to microwave them VERY carefully, a few seconds at a time. It is very easy to go from hard plastic to mush almost instantly.

Paul,

This should probably be another thread. I think we are not the only two out there with broken plastic over the shift pattern label.

I made mine buy cutting down some plastic. Acrylic is probably best. The shifter will hold in in the curve to fit. Just trace the size from the original onto some acrylic sheet. You should be able to find it for picture frames or local plastic shop. Cut it oversize just a bit. I scored mine with a knife
and then sanded the edges to the correct size.

Do you know what thickness you used? I'll go see what lowes has to offer tomorrow. I was driving my car today and kept looking at the cloudy spiderwebbed plastic lol.

I'm sorry Paul, I'm not certain. I used the old one as a guide, it is pretty thin.
