Source for R107 Springs

Curious where to source springs. Saw a reference to using 560SL springs.
Can't find them from third party (H&R) so I guess it is the dealer?

Thanks!

Are the 560SL springs dimensionally the same as the 450SL? Are the spring rates the same?

I can't seem to find any specs on them or third party springs.

The 450 and 560 springs are not dimensionally the same, they will fit but the 560SL springs will lower the car if put into a 450SL.

see Early W107 to Late W107 Spring Differences for spring data I don't have the PN for the 450SL.

Are you sure that the springs are your problem, and not that the spacers have compressed from age?

There are spacers that sit on top the springs to adjust the height, these come inassorted thicknesses.

Just a suggestion that may save you a few bucks.

Good point Scott.

I need to get under it and look. I would like to lower it a bit, but the rear definitely sags vs the front.

Looking at the spring specs was enlightening.

If I interpret things correctly the 560SL front spring is shorter and rear spring is longer. Spring rates are about the same, vehicle weight probably didn't change much from 450SL to 560SL.

I see there are a few options for spring pads. Time to get under it and look.

Thanks!

All those springs will fit on the 450SL. Note the 450 spring that I highlighted is from a 450SLC, which is heavier than the 450SL. I had to use the 450SLC springs on my 560SL to return the car to normal ride height after putting in the M120 V12. The combination M120 V12 and 722.6 trans weighs about 200Lb more than the M117 and 722.3 combination. This is why I have those 560SL springs available. I would assume that the 450SL springs are somewhere in between the 560SL and 450SLC. Unfortunately my EPC is down so I cannot look up the part number of 450SL springs.

Minimal chance of this. The spacers do vary in thickness but by MMs.

So if it is compressed you might be down 8mms which is 1/3 of an inch.
