Used body parts

Hello, I'm jumping over from the Diesel forum to ask if anyone has a source for new or used body parts for a 1964 230sl, which I guess is a w113?

I have a friend who has a bodyshop, who agreed to take one on as a resto and is now finding the customer is balking at the price of body panels (prices per Bud's website). The problem is the car has a large amount of bodged repairs to the nose and front fender/headlamp opening areas and my friend doesn't want to re-bodge it. It ideally needs new fenders, but and definitely a nose and preferably new headlamp pots.

My knowledge base is sedans only, back to the late w116 chassis, so I'm sort of cold here.

Any tips appreciated. Many thanks.

Ran into a similar problem with my 71 280SL and quickly realized that I could spend $12k just on the front end parts so I ended up buying another shell for the front fenders and core support.

The shell is now for sale on ebay (minus the front). If it does not sell, then i'll probably cut it up and sell the bits off separately.

I sent you a PM, but then reread the OP and it isn't your car. Still read what I sent your way.

These cars aren't cheap to work on, and their relative lack of value up until recently means a lot of shoddy repair work was done on a lot of them in the 80s and 90s. I saw a few inches of bondo get cut out of one the other day. Luckily people like your friend want to fix them correctly and undo some of the crummy work that was done on them.
