Supermike,
I have never heard of anybody retro fit a panoramic roof to a '95, but I think it can be done. Since the dimension of the '95 and the newer models is virtually the same. The only concern I will have is the seal may not be as tight as you may like. From what I understand, the hard top of the SL is made for each car specifically. And getting a panoramic roof fro your '95, then you will have to buy it from factory or individual seller that the roof is not specific to your car.

Actually, when the panorama roof came out, I believe the literature said that it was retrofittable to the older 129 models. Never did one though. Probably cost an arm and a leg.
Some adjsutments would be required, just the front and rear locking tabs, not a big deal. I wouldn't worry about getting it to fit.

My '97 was originally equipped with the panoramic top but it was swiped before it got to me. I'd sure like to find it! I think the car and the top got separated in Houston.

Hey, Dan, do you know if they put the VIN on the hardtop? I know they were claiming to put it on most of the major panels to discourage theft; wonder if the top is included?

Don't remember ever seeing one on there, and I've had them taken apart fairly well. I really don't think it is.
How did your hard top get stolen???

The hardtop was already gone when I bought the car; it had been replaced with a standard hardtop. The story I got was that the previous owner left it at a girlfriend's place and they split the sheets or some such. Who knows. The solid top is ok, but I wish I had the original top.

Hey, Gilly, long as I have your attention, let me ask you a related question: this hardtop fits pretty good except that the rear edge of the driver's window "clicks" on the trim as the door closes. It looks like I can adjust the front pin forward a tiny bit; won't that move the top back, or is there a better way? The window fits the soft top perfectly, and seals fine to the hardtop. I very rarely install the hardtop so it's not a big deal, but I'd like to make it right.

Thanks,

Travis

Wouldn't hurt to try adjusting it as you mentioned. I'd mark the original position first, maybe with a crayon or something. The rear pin has a rubber base to it, so maybe it'll flex enough to allow this. You could look at the rear pin to see if there is an adjustment fore/aft or not, it's not common to have to adjust the hard top, so I'm not sure.
What do you mean "splitting sheets" never heard that term before, you mean like a bad break-up? What would anyone want with just a Panorama roof? Sell on E bay I guess, but wouldn't that be a blast to ship??

Supermike,
Stopped by Borders Book today and did some "research" on the panoramic roof. It is supposed to retrofit to 1992 model. So your are OK in that department.

Yeah, "splitting the sheets" is a slang term for divorce or breakup; I assumed it was used everywhere...

I'll try the adjustment next time I install the hardtop---to be honest, I rarely use it as I'm a "top-down" guy almost all the time. If the weather is bad enough to want a hardtop, I take my beater Suburban anyway.

Thanks for the advice,

Travis

Supermike,
There was a post in regards to the window recently. I believe that feature started in '94. I have a '95 and the window will lower when door is opened and go up after the door is closed.
