R107 putting american bumper on a euro

Needed a "rear" bumper for my 350SL Only thing I could find was an american one Has anyone installed an american bumper on a euro 107? Any gotchas? I see the american bumper has shocks that makes it extend out further and I am missing rubber flap that goes horizontally across top. Also I see rubber extensions bolts into qtr panel - so I may need to drill a hole. My trunk won't open but that is another story. Does anyone know if the 300D rubber will fit the R107 across top of bumper? Anyone have the rubber flap for sale?

I have no idea why anyone would install a park bench in place of the original. Might as well weld an I beam to the rear.

Well I do... It's real easy to lose a taillight with the euro bumper.

If that's what you wish, then as Rowdy pointed out there are thosse flaps available on ebay Mercedes R107 C107 Rear Bumper Center Cover

and also the real McCoy Euro rear bumper too..

I'm with Rowdie....why? that said, try to find an orginal , they are out there ,simple bolt on. Understand us purists are a bit opnionated

the link is for an entire bumper - i just need the center flap For you purist I am trying to save my euro front and rears for another 350SL project hence the american bumper. Rear bumper is just 1 yr old! This car is a running project car with rusted rockers,etc,.and will be traded in soon for about 2500 with american bumpers. looking for an inexpensive front american R107 bumper as well - really wont affect trade-in Plan to swap out some other parts before the trade-in

As for the cover piece. Check the EPC to see what models fit.
