I think I need a new bilge pump!!!
Okay so before anyone gets crazy and insists I need to post in the Boat Forum, Lets get serious...
I have a 1980 450SL. I have seen a lot of rain here in Florida this last few days and today I left for work to find I have about 3 inches of water in the passenger side floorboard. I can't seem to find where exactly it is coming from as it is dripping from under the dash. I looked up the problem when I first noticed it and thought it was the maybe the a/c condenser not draining so I cleaned out the little duck bill rubber parts on either side of the transmission. They were pretty clogged and I thought I had solved the problem. Not quite, I have inspected the windshield seal and can't find a flaw in it the would allow this much water to get in over night. Did a little poking around under the dash and I can feel something like a foam rubber seal of some kind that is absolutely soaked... I am puzzled because I have no idea what it is made of, or what it is for, or how to remove it, or even if it is coming all the way through the fire wall. Any advise would be of great help, If you have dealt with this problem please post with your experiences. THANKS IN ADVANCE, Steve |

You probably know this, but if you remove the two louvers in front of the windshield, there are two lowpoint drains. If they get blocked, which they do easily, the water runs over the sides into the heater box and onto the floor. I uses some coat hanger size wire attached to a cordless drill to ream those out. They drain down where you cleaned out those funky drain hoses. I believe there are two from that box and a couple from the evaporator box.
