current mid 80's 107 values?

There was a thread discussing current 107 values but I am have trouble finding it. Anyone have an idea of what an 1985 euro 500sl with less than 75000 miles that is a #2 or possibly a high #3 should bring? NADA seems
completely unrealistic with a 12M to 23M. I have had an inquiry about selling mine and don't want to be too out of line either way. Both tops are in very good condition. No real issues. very good rubber etc.
Thanks for the input.

No rust and climate control working properly? Original bumpers and head lights?
A knowledgeable buyer would ask if the front subframe problem had been addressed. Also the timing chain system is do for maintenance due to age.

Some devalue the grey market vehicles. I consider it a plus. Check ebay completed sales for 107s. See what they have sold for not the asking prices. Without seeing yours I can't put a price on it.

The book never bought a car!

NADA / Blue book might be OK for a Chevy Cobalt where millions were made , billions junked, but a older car built in small numbers that does not change hands very often does not generate enough valid data.

The other issue is that if car markets change, I'd expect the Cobalt price to change rapidly enough to remain realistic where the SL's price will be stuck for a while.

The car is worth what the highest offer from a legitimate pool of buyers and if that offer is accepted from the seller.

As for euro spec, they are preferred by euro buyers buying in the US and shipping home. Is your potential buyer known to you? Importers look for undervalued cars that they can put on a boat and flip long distance.

And Wayne Carini got close to $70,000 for one with 600 miles.

The $10-15k number is accurate. In my opinion.

Lets get real here. The last couple of posted figures will produce unwarranted expectations (even if I believed them).

Which is why I followed up with the 10-15k.

My number of around $70k is accurate, I think the exact number was $67 and change.

A clean low miled 107 will pull down low to mid teens.

Its important to note Mercedes made an absolute "****-ton" of them so they are far from rare. And I would consider the fact that it is a euro to be nothing more than a novelty. 500SLs aren't all that rare in the US, those cars came in in the peak of the gray market.

However I would argue color effects the value, they made some ugly 107s. Also, 75k miles doesn't mean its rust free, or well taken care of. If it needs a top, floors, and a rocker, its a $1500 car.

So we don't have enough info to put a real number on it.

It's real! This car was so original and perfect last spring I decided I couldn't make it less perfect and drive it any more.

The car didn't even have a stone chip. The only thing's not original were the fluids and four tires that hit the ground. The exhaust crossover still had it's INKED part number on it. No corrosion anywhere and all factory paint inspection marks on hoses, pipes and lines.

The car was invited, again invited to the Greenwhich Concour.

Don't make snide remarks when you don't have a clue.

Whom are you addressing.

If you read my post, I'm sort of on your side. The finest examples of any car will pull premium money, however the condition of your car represents a very small minority. So using your results to assign value to all 107s, is a tough thing to do. I don't doubt your car was stunning, it appears so in the pictures.

Your car was also a final year car which also helps the value.

The OPs car is not worth $46,000, nor is it worth $67,000 like Wayne Carinis 560.

I think he was addressing me and it was an opinion. Even the two brand new '89 560's two years ago only sold in the 60-70K range
He got a very good price for his.

I apologize for neglecting my post. I just realized it was getting activity again.
Here is a pic of the car I referred to. It is not a pristine rare undriven example. It is mostly original with the exception of the front seat covers, which I replace due to wear with MB material
that matches the rest of the interior. I did have to replace the smog pump that was added to meet emission requirements required in the Southwest.
This car is driven in good weather-not a trailer queen.
It is in good shape however. No rust that I can find.
I mention the fact that it is a euro only for accuracy sake. Some seem to swoon over euro versions, others deride them as "just gray market"
To each his own, I guess. Some have the opinion that the 500 eruo has more guts than the 560's do.
Several 107's in the last few years have gone unsold at IOLA in the 7M to 12M range. Admittedly most had 100,000 plus miles but not all. I hope
ericdee and DieselPaul are correct in the 10-15M range. It appears that it would have to be a very unusual mid 80's 107 to break into the 20M area.
The days of people taking second mortgages to throw money at toys
seem to be gone.
Anyway, thanks for all the input.

My apology. It was kind of snide. I do not know you and had no reason to doubt your word.
