Thrust Augmentation

I have a gray market, sold in Germany, 1978 350SL with K-jetronic CIS fuel injection. At the back of the motor behind the fuel distributor there is a valve with air lines (not vacuum) attached. The EPC calls it a thrust augmentation valve. Does anyone know what it does and how it does it? I am replacing damaged hoses and would like to test it when done!

Normally "thrust augmentation" comes in the form of afterburners or JATO bottles. I've never seen anything like that on a Mercedes

Here are the parts from the EPC. The name must be having translation problems!

EPC. Search that part number. As I stated on BW it is also called circulating air booster valve on other models with the same PN. I thought I posted the thread there where Nobby was searching for the same valve (different PN) for his '83 280SL. Can't remember if he posted how he tested his but the diaphragm was bad in his. Forgot to look for my M110 engine manual. Sorry.

On the M110 they call it a "decel valve".

This valve opens up under rapid deceleration and dumps a little extra air into the bottom of the intake preventing stalls.

You can test it with a hand held vacuum pump and your mouth.
