73 450sl 83 380sl 89 560sl question.
So I have the following
1983 380 sl that runs good and is registered and smogged with a busted subframe. new soft top, could use a paint job. no rust Ca car. 73 450 sl with great motor and tranny but needs a few body parts due to under paint corrosion. hood, trunk lid, drivers side fender passenger door with NONOP. A 1989 560sl available for 1k with a bad motor due to busted chain guides and therefore unable to test it. tranny? Options are: Here are the question/s? I could buy the 89sl, remove the subframe and install in 83sl. Remove body parts and install them on 73sl. Donate/part out the rest of the 89sl Remove 4.5 motor from 73 install in 89 with which tranny? improved fuel injection from 89 Switch vin numbers from 73 onto 89 so I don't have to smog, (probably illegal). Any other ideas?

I thought of something after I posted. I am unsure if the 560SL door will work on a 450. The outer handles and the latching eye are different. Not sure about the mounting points.
