Can you identify this window/door part?
Have passenger door panel off (82 380SL), troubleshooting an annoying *thunk* inside panel. Found this loose part at bottom of inside door. Looks like it might hold window as the L-shaped "hook" is coated with a greenish, rubbery substance. Any help appreciated. Also, how to reattach???

solution?
Think I figured it out. Seems it was attached to bottom metal rail of window, maybe as a spacer or something?? (Found some of the green, rubbery substance had rubbed off on inside bottom of door). Appears to have been spot-welded or riveted (vs screwed), so reattaching aint an option...
Window works fine, so I suppose I'll trash the part. Probably the source of my "rattle-thunk" too. Onward. Ragtopper |

it is a support for the window mechanism and rail and for what you are now hearing, to keep it from moving
