soft top will not go up.help

i just bought my 93 sl500 in pristine condition.i just removed the hard top and tried to put soft top up.the windows goes down the rollbar goes down the boot unlocks and nothing else.am i missing a step?

I don't know much about the 129s except from watching my roadtrip partner dick around with his.

He needs to do a system reset every once in awhile with this home made gadget he made.

The controller may need to be "reset". (Error codes cleared.) Lots of info posted in the past on how to do this and where the diagnostic port is. Use the search function of the forum.

i got the top manualy then i pressed the power top botton and it loked the front and back of the top.
the i tries to put the top down with the power switch and it release the front and back and then the par where the back plastic window goes up and the the boot unlach and nothing else.the boot release but dont go up.
i checked the fluid and it is almost to the max mark

as was previously posted there are some good posts about the r129 top. mine never worked right. there are 12 hydraulic cylinders and about 30 sensors that all need to be working together to have it operate. it is possible to move the top manually but the engine needs to be off. mine would do what it sounds like yours is doing. i would get it to that stage then shut the car off and do the rest manually. there is a guy called klaus on that other forum that has devoted his life to this system. if you end up needing parts i have a 1992 sl i'm parting out.

took my car to the local mercedes dealeship to fix my top.
hope it will not be to expensive
