Self adhesive Velcro. Pick the high spot on the seat and stick on a square of pile Velcro. Cut the same size square of hook Velcro and stick it to the pile. Remove the backing and install the "chrome" piece.

You will now have removable "chrome" pieces and they won't fall off or rattle around.

I took some pics of my seats but I can't find them.

I'll post if I do.

Thanks for the tip that will save some $ for the carpet.

thanks
I was charged $125 on top of the vinyl seat cost. so add $250 for front and back to what the seat covers cost. I did not use GAHH or WU. They are way too expensive. In line with cabrio.de. I'm not a millionaire.
Materials and extra tools cost around $150, estimated. Cloth was $300 but i have almost 2 meters still left. So you could get away with 3 meters for the entire interior including the door panels. I plan to have those made sometime. So all together $700 plus the cost of the covers including the extra cloth. You could shave 25 - 50 euros on cloth if you just do the seats.
I'm not going to say the company name because Pelican has seat covers for the r107. Anyone can contact if needed for details.
Time is hard to calculate because i did it over a course of a couple of months on my spare time. Also I had other work to do when the seats were out, like some rust bubbles in the paint under the seats and on the floor pan. It was a good catch as none of the rust was very serious.
I got the car to work on while i look after the toddler. Of course that doesn't work so I do things while he is napping. All i can say is it was a lot of work. It would be a good idea to keep one seat assembled while you fix the other so you can see how to replace everything.

so it ended up being $1250 for all the seat covers. It was probably 250 or so in other materials when it was all done. Not bad since an upholster wanted $1200 just in labor to redo only the fronts. That included fabricating the seat covers, but no materials. It would have come to $1500 just for the fronts that way, more expensive than leather. Too much IMHO. If GAHH did the work, I think I would be in for 3k just for the front seats.

I like it. I did my seats two years ago. They were leather, but I redid them in MB tex.

Tell me more about this. I may try to stain / paint a grey carpet set to dark red.

Its hard to tell at this point if it faded back. I think the fabric paint is only expected to look good for a few years. The parts where the carped was just faded and not in bad shape are still looking good. This was not a color change though, just painted over with the same shade. I had it color matched at the local paint store. They gave me the paint in four cans. I think I still have some left. Now I just want a new carpet set. I think I spent a Ben on the paint and actually wish I would have just gotten new carpet. Well, that's four Bens so was not an option. Its not an option now either. Hopefully soon.
The seat covers are still in new condition. I am hoping I dont have to sell this before I can get it up to snuff. 7k miles in 5 years.
