1984 380 SL grinding noise in reverse

I'm a proud new owner of a 1984 380 SL. She's been garage kept and in good shape, but she also sat up for close to a year (what we were told) She's a little slow and hesitates when first started, but once she warms up she runs good. My question is when I first get started in the morning and put it in reverse there is a grinding noise that I am not sure if it is the brakes or the transmission. After I back up a few feet it quits. It also does that from time to time when I get in it to leave work for lunch. But that is the only time it does that. Not when I'm running around. Just when it sits up for a few hours or overnight.

if its grinding and you are not moving , probably not brakes and could be tranny . If she has been sitting I'd change fluid and filter, make sure differential has gear oil
sound also with backing you may have a small vacuum leak, may be related may not
did you check all the lines for cracks, all connected?
