instrument cluster interchange

I have a credit due at our local pull it yourself salvage yard and they have an 86 300E. I was wondering if the speedometer assy. would fit in my 86 300SL. If it's in good shape I could change the whole thing instead of trying to just replace the odometer gears. Does anybody know if they're compatable? Thanks.

Doubt it but if it does it has the same gear problem.
