Drivers seat twist

Hello Everyone,
I just became the owner of a 88 560SL with just in time for spring. It has been a great learing experience reading different post and also looking at a few cars. An I wanted to say this site has been a great resource. So, I purchased this jewel with the intention of enjoying a fine motorcar on beautiful days. I have a few things I want to do, but for now I want to drive. However, I have already found something annoying. The drivers seat back twist to the right. Since I have not become confortable with the good brakes the shifting of the seat is a problem. My question is how do you remove a SL seat from the car? It looks like its more than a couple bolts. It appears someone has removed the seat before because the large spring is not connected. Would the parts to fix the seat be difficult to find? Would you do any other maintance on the seats since I will have it out of the car? Thanks in advance for all your help.

I too had, and have the same problem with my '86 560 SL. I also put the same question on the forum and had not received much in the way of help. I took the car into an auto upholstery shop first to have the seat bottom cushion bolstered up. I told him about the twisting problem, he cleaned all the tracks, lubricated them and put new bushings for the twisting. I can say its somewhat better, but not 100%. On hard braking I still feel the twist. Some one reported that there is a technical bulletin from Mercedes out there addressing the problem. I asked a Mercedes dealer about it and I was told there is no guarantee and its a an expensive repair. Well that's my say. If you hear anything else let me know. I feel its an annoying problem. But I 've been told they all do it. For me that's not good enough.....
