Fuel relay and unknown conectors

our 1986 560SL just stopped running in the middle of the street….when trying to restart I did not hear any sound from the fuel system as usual…In reviewing the SL forum it looks like the fuel relay is the issue..Upon removing the glove compartment, I found two pin connectors (see attached pic) that were not connected… one has 6-8 pins and the other 12 or so…Question..What are they for? Question two…does it sound like the relay is the issue of not starting? Is there a ways to test the relay… I have an 0ms meter…..
Thank you
Mick

mine quit today also

Hi,I live in Florida also only closer to Cocoa Beach. Anyway this afternoon my 86 300SL decided to die on me pulling it into the driveway. Before it ran for about four seconds and then quit so I bypassed the fuel pump relay with an aftermarket one which let it run. Today when it died it won't even try to run.I can hear the fuel pump when I turn on the key. Hopefully it just ran out of gas although the gauge shows a little over a quarter of a tank. I also found out that the fuel pump relay gets a signal from the tach. Well, Good luck with yours. Greg.Keep me posted and I'll do the same.

that would be the first thing I would switch out . See if you are getting power at the fuel pump They fail, and result in a non start. Could be a few outside the box issues like ignition switch , no fuel, clogged air filter, bad fuel pump, loss of main ground
