Rear Drive Shaft Flex Disc

Has anyoine replaced this?
If you have, and therefore have experience in the repair, could you let me know the repercussions of dragging my feet on the repair?

Can someone give me an idea about Cost for Parts and Labor?

Anything to look out for or strange nthings that might happen on the repair?

Should Front and Rear be done at the same time?

Who makes this part other than Mercedes and is it reliable? Got a feeling its big money for it? Just a hunch?

Thanks to all!

can't say much about anything but the damage it can (read DOES) cause when it lets go. whatever it costs you'll wish you had done it if you don't and it comes apart.....parts should be under $150 (both, yes do both) and the labor shouldn't be bad. might have to drop the exhaust on that car to get to it

if it is bad ( making noise and slop in the shaft) do it sooner than later you will be glad you did. Easy DIY , better if you have access to lift
Dont skimp on part, you only change every 100 k or so of normal driving

They have to drop the exhaust and on some cars, drop the diff a little. I had mine done because after investigating, its a lot more complicated than replacing a u-joint on the old Impala. Don't put it off even if there is only slight cracking. I only had to have the rear done.

Dropping the center joint is all I needed to do to get my r107 to have the space for r&r. Maybe others are different

It would be wise to replace both flex disks centre bearing and transmission mount at the same time. Prices as quoted here at Pelican parts.

Driveshaft Center Support Febi $19.00
Driveshaft bearing $12.75
Flex disks OEM X 2 + Bolts $155.50
Transmision Mount Febi $15.75

Labour around 2/3 hours give or take. Exhaust have to be removed, (best and quicker to remove from the manifold all in one piece) heat shields and transmission support plate.
Replace hanger rings while you are there…

If you wish to have a go and DIY yourself, obtain tools and here you will find plenty of how-to. It is easily doable. Or you could obtain the parts and hand them over to the shop to do the job. ~ Hope it helps.
