Need 205-70 -14s

Just picked up an 81 380 SLC. Low miles, but I need to get tires.

Michelin xv are on there now. Can someone chime in with a favorite tire? Looking for quiet and long mileage. H speed rating if possible.

Tire rack only shows 3 tires. Do I need to switch rims????????

sorry....that car is very dirty. I just washed it today and don't have picts of it clean......

I just went through the same search for my 1985 280SL and was unable to find any 205.70.14 tires with an H rating. I did find some with a T rating, which is only a few mph lower. I ended up with Hancook Optima which have a tread life expectation of 120,000km (75,000miles?) The other tire I looked at hard was the Kumho. The Michelin Defender did not rate as highly as either of these. It's unfortunate that the tire manufacturers are so focused on bigger (and consequently much more expensive) tires that so many of them have dropped out of the production for 14". Choice is better in 15" but for how long?

went with T rated michelins. great tire imho.
selling the car though....wifey wants newer......
