1984 380 SL air condition not working

My AC has not worked since the day I got it. Most of the problems with the car, at that time, were resolved when I replaced all the fuses in the fuse block, except the AC.
Is there an inline fuse to the compressor or the climate controller I can't find or a connector that may be broken?
I also figure that there is probably a pressure switch that I can't find. Any ideas where that is located?
I don't know if there is any refrigerant in the system, either.
Thanks for any feedback.

there should be a connector on the side of the compressor, make sure you are getting power when the switch is on or jumper it to start ( be careful of your fingers) At that age you don't have many options , if the compressor fires up you can see if you have a charge, my suspicion is bad seals, hole in lines ect. If you are not familiar with AC systems I would get an expert to look. Plus it is probably R12 and that will need to retrofit to the new stuff . A big job all in all

What kind of connector?

I know about the wires leading into the clutch pulley, but they appear to be permanently mounted by passing through a grommet. I have tried tracing it out by hand but I lose them among piping, wires, and other metal right up against the strut column. I have tried to feel around the barrel of the compressor for other wires but can't reach the inboard side near the engine.
Do you know if these wires go directly to the controller or if they might go to a pressure switch?
