1973 450SL Window Chatter

Drivers power window goes down fine but chatters and stalls on the way up. Need to physically pull the window up as it chatters.

probably the window track rubber or bent channel , inspect closely for binding , may need to replace or refurbish. The channel extends inside of door . Also gearing in door may need lubed and or adjusted

It could be the electric lift motors. I had to replace both of mine. Symptom was needing to manually lift window about every three inches of progress on the way up, if that makes sense. The electric motor turn a worm gear shaft that turns a wheel that turns the gear that lifts the window. The plastic worm gear looses some teeth then you have to help it along.
