Slow Gear change
I have a 96 SL320 and when I start it in the morning she takes for ever to go from 2nd to 3rd unless you rev it up to 3500rpm and then it shifts. How I get around it is I put the car into N and back to D and that avoids any high reving on a cold engine. Once it shifts it's fine there after.
I have heard all the cliches of a gear box over haul is due, selectors valve trouble and my gear box wont last two months but its like this for the last year and I dont really feel like spending $2000 on an over haul. Should I get the gear box oil changed and put an STP additive in? All you gear box heads, get replying. Capt Bear |

Tranny problem
I had the same problem with my 450 SLC, hot or cold. Turned out to be the Tranny linkage to the accelerator linkage at the top rear of the engine. It had slipped forward throught the clip and delayed the shift as a result. I pushed it backwards throught the clip about a 1/4 in and it has shifted fine since. Obviously if the problem is in the linkage there is more than just that location where the problem could lie. Good Luck
