560sl Feeling like a tug when slowing
When slowing the vehicle (coasting or heavy-steady braking), there is a noticeable TUG from the rear. Conversely, when I pump the brakes and gradually slow, there is no tugging effect. Thoughts?

Sounds like a sticking caliper or a warped rotor. When was the last time you pulled a wheel to look? One side get hotter than the other?

So it feels like a mechanical something hanging up in the back? In my 560SL the engine pulls down a little - intermittently - while coasting. I had it checked out and its an issue with the throttle control valve. Something I may fix someday, but the "tugging" sensation I can live with for now. It is more noticeable in the lower gears while coasting. It does feel like something is pulling the car back, somewhat like braking, but I can see the tachometer needle pull down when this happens. When I'm on the throttle, even a little, this does not happen. A very qualified independent mechanic took a ride with me and all but confirmed it's the throttle control valve.
This may be a wild guess in your case, but I just wanted to throw this out. I would think a hanging caliper/pad or would be noticeable all the time. Maybe. Good luck with this. Fingers crossed.
